Basic Grammar In Japanese

This very basic grammar is very useful for beginners who are studying japanese. Because there are several differences between english grammar and japanese grammar. In english, to talk about things in general we use Present Simple Tense. The structure is like this :

Subject + Tobe + Noun
We can take a look at these examples :
I am John.
Explanation :
I is subject
Am is tobe
John is noun

Now, in japanese the structure is like this :
Subject+ Wa + Noun + Desu
Example :
Watashi wa John desu
Explanation :
Watashi is subject ( watashi means I )
Wa is tobe
John is noun
Desu is an explantion of the Present Tense (desu is positive form to make a sentence become formal in present tense)

We can use this Subject + Tobe + Noun in different Noun. Say that we want to tell where are we from.
Example :
I am american
Explanation :
I is subject
Am is tobe
American is Noun

In japanese :
Watashi wa amerika-jin desu
Explanation :
Watashi is subject ( means I)
Wa is tobe
Amerika-Jin is noun (amerika-jin means american)
Desu is an explantion of the Present Tense (desu is positive form to make a sentence become formal in present tense)

  3. Sedikit perbedaan tenses inggris dan jepang. Kalau di tenses inggris, ada present tense dan future tense, tapi kalau tenses jepang, present tense fungsinya bisa juga untuk future tense. Contoh : anata no uchi e ikimasu: saya akan datang ke rumahmu. Bisa juga dengan root form. Anata no uchi e iku.
